A SONG lover was injured inside a karaoke bar in Barangay Lawaan, Talisay City, when another customer threw a bottle of beer at him while he was singing, at the top of his voice, a Tagalog song.

Welson Pepito, 33, was taken to the Talisay City District Hospital for treatment of the cut in his head. His attacker fled after the incident, which occurred before dawn yesterday in the South Central Market.

Two other people were injured in separate stabbing incidents, both of which took place while the victims were drinking with their attackers.

SPO4 Romeo Herpoda, desk officer of Talisay police, said it was at 2:25 a.m. when Pepito arrived at the police station with some people, to complain that someone threw a bottle of beer at his head.

A witness said the culprit occupied the table behind Pepito.

In Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay, a 28-year-old man was stabbed by his drinking partner with a shard from a broken bottle, when he tried to meddle in a quarrel between the suspect and the man’s wife past 7 p.m. Saturday.

Charmei Hermotaño was wounded in the stomach, while suspect Nelson Labajo, 28, fled and remained at large as of yesterday.

Hermotaño said Laba-jo’s wife came and angrily asked her husband to go home. That provoked an argument, which Hermo-taño got drawn into.

As Hermotaño tried to explain to Labajo’s wife why they were drinking, Labajo suddenly smashed an empty bottle of beer, picked up a sharp piece and stabbed him in the stomach.

In Pakigne, Minglanilla, a debt of P300 provoked one man to stab his friend past 1 a.m. yesterday.

Melecio Pagador, 34, said he tried to assure his friend, whom he identified only as Elmer, that he would pay him P300 by the middle of March.

The suspect allegedly refused to listen and stabbed him in the stomach with a fan knife.

Pagador said he incurred the debt in December 2001 yet and he thought Elmer had already forgotten about it, because it was never mentioned in their many drinking bouts.
