Ex-town official hurt in bike mishap

A RETIRED municipal assessor onboard a motorcycle was injured after another speeding motorcycle lost control and collided with him in the provincial road of San Francisco town in Camotes Island last Friday.

Renato Borromeo, 60, was first brought to the Ricardo Maningo District Hospital in the island, but was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City to treat his injuries.

Borromeo, a resident of South Poblacion, was heading to the town proper when Jimmy Nudalo, 26, lost control of his motorcycle at 7 a.m.

Nudalo hit Borromeo, causing him to fall to the ground.

Nudalo was reportedly running at full speed.

He is now detained at the San Francisco Police Station while his motorcycle is being impounded until Borromeo can decide whether to file a case against him.

Elsewhere, two motorcycles collided in Barangay Poblacion, Pinamungajan last Saturday dawn.

Demeterio Tanghi-an, 42, a resident of Barangay Guimbawi-an, was driving his Honda TMX 155 motorcycle when he collided with the southbound motorcycle of Rodney Magallen, 29, of Barangay Sinsin, Balamban.

Magallen only had a student permit and had no certificate of registration for the motorcycle.

Both drivers were rushed to the Pinamunga-jan District Hospital for medical treatment.

However, Tanghi-an was transferred to an undisclosed hospital in Cebu City.

Police are still conducting an investigation to see who could be faulted for the incident. MEA
