Sansen tops Mactan golf tilt
JOHN “Boy” Sansen snagged the tournament’s top individual award to lead Sunday’s winners in the 1st Quarter Members Tournament at the Mactan Corral Golf Club.
Sansen clinched the competition’s most prestigious award, the Lowest Gross award, by registering a field-best 77, and was joined by Class division rulers Edwin Espina, Jung-Ho Jung and Petrinio See in the winners’ circle.
Espina ruled the Class A group by carding a net score of 69 points, while Jufil Sato copped the division’s first runner-up spot with a 71.
The Class B crown, on the other hand, went to Jung, who carded a net 64 to finish ahead over the 65 net of runner-up Nido Lao.
See, meanwhile, won by countback over Lesmes Garate as both registered identical 60 net scores.
Special award winners of the day went to Earl Robert Kahler for the longest drive on hole No.1, driving the ball 290 yards out; David Villono, who clinched the nearest the pin award by putting the ball within four feet from the hole; and Antonio Araneta, who won the longest putt when he banked the ball five feet and 11 inches from the hole.
