Talk back: Not a drug haven By Concerned Residents of edison st.
We are constrained to write this letter to set the record straight.
Recent issues of your paper identified the barangay in which a taxi driver was murdered as Barangay Apas when in fact it is not. It is part of Barangay Lahug.
In fact, the barangay captain of Lahug was there to survey the crime scene with the authorities when the crime was discovered. Also, residents there are registered voters of Lahug.
What disturbs us, however, is your report that the area is a known drug haven. Nothing could be farther from the truth!
Edison St. and its vicinity are populated by law abiding and morally upright citizens who are being victimized daily by criminals from other parts of the city. They are able to do so because of the lack of visibility of proper authorities.
Drug haven? We don’t think so. The crime happened in front of a parish church!
We would appreciate it very much if your reporter checks his facts properly next time so the people reading your widely read paper will not be misled and the reputation of our area as peaceful and livable will not be besmirched.
