Guardo 93’ thumps Skygo ’95
By Christian Ben Rodriguez

GUARDO-ARTHRO ’93 demolished Skygo ’95, 73-65, in the opening salvo of the 2004 Osaka Iridology-San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (SCBHABA) at the USC Boys High Gym last Sunday.

Roy Jumao-as led Guardo-Arthro with a team-high 20 points while former Metropolitan Basketball Association star Patrick Benedicto scattered 13 points after a sew-saw ballgame.

Guardo-Arthro banked on Jumao-as’ jumpshots while Benedicto provided muscle in the paint and anchored a monstrous defense.

Skygo ’95 played catch-up during the second quarter with a 17-11 rally sparked by Leo Dale Caparas to cut the lead to 43-39 at halftime after Guardo-Arthro led by as much as 11 points.

Guardo Arthro, however, came back with Bong Eleazar scoring nine points in the third quarter alone stretching back the lead to 55-49 in the third quarter.

Benedicto was unstoppable at the fourth period draining three lay-ups and giving Caparas a tough time on the other end.

Meanwhile, Ho Tong Hardware ’70 defeated Teri ’80, 74-58, while Shido ’90 dumped Batch
