RDC to pick new private sector representatives

The Central Visayas Regional Development Council (RDC) is set to select the new set of private sector representatives (PSRs) to the RDC for the period 2004 to 2007.

It is inviting all interested private sector organizations (PSOs) in the region to have their organizations accredited with the RDC to participate in the selection of representatives. Only RDC-accredited PSOs can participate in the RDC-PSR election.
The accreditation of PSOs in the region is ongoing and will continue until March 31. The simultaneous election of PSRs in the provinces will be on May 28.

PSOs are non-government organizations (NGOs) established for the purpose of socio-economic development, and to render service or provide assistance to the public. These include organizations such as industry associations, cultural associations, professional associations, civic clubs and cooperatives.

For purposes of accreditation, the PSOs must have the following qualifications: legal personality – the PSO must be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or any government agency which registers organizations; performance – the PSO must have conducted socio-economic activities for at least three years from date of registration in the region concerned; nationality – the PSO must be Filipino. Organizations managed by foreigners, whose officers and members are primarily foreign nationals, or are considered branches or affiliates of foreign organizations are disqualified.

Organizations which have government officials and employes as ex-officio members or whose operations are funded by the government are disqualified.

Accreditation forms are available at the RDC Secretariat of the National Economic Development Authority (Neda) 7 in Sudlon, Lahug.
