Speak out: Courtesy stickers By Tommy C. Yu
(The letter is addressed to Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama)
I would like to share with you and our officials in our lovely city, the Queen City of the South, which is also a historical adoration site of our child, Senor Sto. Nino, that we don’t want our economy and peace and order destroyed by few radical organizations like transport groups and other vested interests.
In order to minimize their abuses and acts of economic sabotage, I wish to share with you views that are a product of my experience in our city, wherein I was a member of Cebu’s Finest for 28 years, and my experience in the US.
During transport strikes, give the kind-hearted drivers, or those that do not participate in the protest action, small “courtesy stickers” with the city’s official seal printed on it. These should be pasted on the driver’s license and/ or temporary official receipt of the Land Transportation Office.
Advise traffic personnel to extend courtesy to the poor drivers that do not participate in transport strikes by using the courtesy stickers if they commit violations. However, the courtesy stickers should only be pasted on the drivers’ licenses or official receipts for the duration of the strike.
