Gen. Feeds nips Jaz, stretches CBF lead By Rommel C. Manlosa
GENERAL Feeds Mega Mix continued its dominance on court pulling two games ahead, as the rest of the teams got tangled with identical records, following a scary 75-73 victory over the Jaz Cola Kings in the 2004 CBF President’s Cup at Basak-San Nicolas Sports Complex Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, defending champion Hapee Toothpaste extended the misery of Skgyo Motorcycle Riders following an equally pulsating 80-77 win in the opening game, as the second phase of the triple-round-robin elimination closed.
The one-two-three backcourt punch of Alex Cainglet, Cristopher Daruca and Jett Latonio, plus the intimidating inside operation of the burly Alfie Grijaldo helped Mega Mix get back from an 11-point pit at the start of the final period for its fourth win in five games.
Skygo Motorcycle Riders, on the other hand, only had inside operator Joseph Ronald Quiñahan running the offensive end.
Gen. Feeds (75) – Cainglet 14, Daruca 14, Grijaldo 11, Latonio 9, Lanete 8, Saladaga 7, Misola 4, de los Santos 4, Concha 2, Arnado 2. Jaz Cola (73) – Limbo 18, Larong 14, de Guzman 13, Baguion 9, Robillos 8, Menor 6, Clar 3, Booker 2. Quarterscores: 18-17; 38-34; 48-59; 75-73.
