Nalzaro: Sun cellular’s lousy service
By BOBBY G. NALZARO

THE media campaign of the newest player in the booming telecommunications industry, Sun Cellular, is very enticing and attractive to cellular subscribers.

This Gokongwei-owned cellular network offers the lowest airtime rates and affordable packages to its subscribers with latest cell phone units. The company promises a wide range in terms of coverage and clearest connection by putting up more cell sites.

But for Sun cellular subscribers, behind those well-produced commercial and media hype, they are experiencing a lot of problems. One is the unreliable signal of this cellular company. I have been receiving complaints through text messages and e-mails regarding the bad signal.

I understand that Sun’s coverage is limited in Metro Cebu area only. Outside of this area, Sun’s signal is practically dead because they don’t have enough cell sites. If you are a cellular subscriber you should see to it that your provider could deliver a good quality signal. Owning a cell phone nowadays is no longer a luxury but a necessity.

It defeats the purpose of owning a cell phone if you cannot use it in far-flung areas because your provider has no power to transmit your message across or connect you to other lines. Sun cellular has to invest more to be able to closely compete with the pioneer and leading players in the industry.

Globe and Smart have already saturated almost 95 percent of the entire archipelago of their cell sites, making the subscribers of these two telecommunication companies more comfortable of their service.

Other complaint raised against Sun is their lone customer service center located at SM. The company has no designated public relations manager in Cebu to answer numerous queries and complaints lodged by their ‘unsatisfied customers.’

Even I had a hard time getting a response from its local office when I tried to relay these complaints and get the company’s reaction. With Sun’s kind of operation and service, I can foresee that this cellular company cannot take off and shine like the sun in the sky.

I don’t know if the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), which supervises the operations of the telecommunication industry, can look into the complaints of Sun subscribers. Maybe NTC is just also waiting for formal complaints to be lodged at their office before they act on it. Please lang daw taga NTC.

Just look at the ugly face of politics in the country. Not only the candidates themselves are victims of political intrigues and black propaganda but including their family and loved ones.

Sun.Star Cebu reported yesterday that the Martinezes are junking former DTI secretary and K-4 senatorial candidate Mar Roxas because he is reportedly romantically linked with ABS-CBN broadcaster Korina Sanchez.

Korina and Rep. Clavel Martinez of Cebu’s fourth district were at odds after the popular broadcaster called the congresswoman ‘bastos’ in her ‘Morning Girls’ program. This happened after Sanchez and Martinez were engaged in a debate during a congressional hearing on the Medical Malpractice Bill, which is still pending in the House.

Korina’s comments irked Martinez, who was once a radio broadcaster, and threatened to file libel charges. The Martinezes want Roxas to clarify his relationship with Korina before they throw in their support behind him.

Susmaryosep! Granting if Mar and Korina are ‘on’ right now. What’s the fault of Mar? Gumikan ba lang kay nagkahinigugma-ay sila? Remember the incident happened long before their relationship. My Gosh!!
