Mom claims body of NPA spokesman ‘Ka Bino’ By Garry Cabotaje
THE body of New People’s Army (NPA) Central Visayas spokesman Silvino “Ka Bino” Clamucha was claimed by his mother after confirming that it was her son who was killed during last Friday’s firefight in Barangay Liboron, Catigbian, Bohol.
Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) Chief Sancho Bernales said the Catigbian police released the body past 9 p.m. last Sunday after Clamucha’s mother Vitaliana and sister Virgintina identified the slain rebel.
He said Balilihan Councilor Salvio Madangit witnessed the release of Clamucha, 51, to his relatives.
“The body was released after a thorough inquiry. The mother was crying hard because she had not seen her son for the last 15 years,” said Bernales, quoting SPO3 Renoblas, the acting Catigbian police chief.
The Clamuchas and their relatives were aboard two trucks when they visited the police station, he added.
As of yesterday, the body of the other slain rebel had not been claimed and had remained unidentified.
The National Democratic Front (NDF), the political wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), only identified him as Ka Kardo.
Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Melquiades Feliciano, 3rd Civil Relations Group chief based in Central Command (Centcom), described the death of Clamucha as a welcome development not only to the authorities but also to the Barangay Liboron residents.
Feliciano said the residents themselves sought the help of the military because they were unhappy and fed up with the presence of the NPA in their barangay.
Clamucha, former chief security officer of NDF consultant Vide Alguna, and five others were charged for the failed ambush on Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado last Feb. 13.
“His death was a big blow to the CPP-NDF-NPA. It will take time before the communist rebels go back to their normal operation,” Feliciano said.
For his part, Bernales believed that Clamucha’s body is now in his hometown in Del Carmen Norte, Poblacion, Balilihan, Bohol.
