Dance team gets P300T
THE CEBU City Government has allocated P334,000 for the 60-strong Dancesport-Team Cebu City’s trip to the National Dancesport Quarterly Ranking and Competition on March 20 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The 34 competing couples will vie in all the categories after readying themselves for another medal haul following a tremendous show of force last year.
“Dancesport Team deserves our support because they’ve been reaping honors for Cebu City. Team Cebu City is a model sport program to emulate,” said Councilor Jack Jakosalem.
Dancesport director Edward Hayco expressed his gratitude to the CCSC and assured the team will continue to reap awards in national and international events.
Hayco, a two-time Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) Sportsman of the Year awardee, hired the services of an Australian trainor for the team.
Leading the delegation is TCC-Dancesport coach Loloi Rendon and local dancesport patron Eleanor Hayco will join the Senior Standard and Senior Latin, while Jimmy Noel and Ariadne Velasquez will compete in the Latin Special Event 1.
In the exciting Latin A category are Michael Mendoza and Francesca Mazzcurati, Charlie Camacho and Miljane Camacho, Rey Richard Obong and Jenevive Camacho, Buddy Dabasol and Olivia Cui, while for the Ten Dance are Rendon and Hayco, Jerswin and Anne Ployapoy, Junjun Marante and Maricris Hermosa.
Meanwhile, CCSC chairman Jonathan Guardo said that Cebu City will host the dancesport event of the 2005 Southeast Asian Games at the Waterfront Hotel Lahug. RCM
