See the only fight ‘you‘d’ want to see’ this year
PERHAPS no other local boxer has the dedication that can match that of current RP light flyweight king Bart Batawang.
Batawang, a veteran of 14 years in the trade, has a fought 43 battles, winning 30, losing 10 with three drawn fights. He has scored 24 knockouts.
And although he will be fighting in the undercard of the April 4 championship promotion, Batawang could easily steal the show from main eventer Reynald Tribo, who will fight Jake Veran for the RP super-bantamweight title.
Feared fighter
Batawang, who has the reputation of being one of the most feared fighters in the country, will fight the hard-punching Along Dino, a native of Candijay, Bohol.
Vaunted for his iron-jaw and killer punches, Batawang has included Jun Ebale, Roselito Campaña, Flash Villacura, Jack Maldecir, Jovan Presbitero and Mongolian champion Erdene Chuldun among his ring victims.
But Dinoy, currently the No.3 contender to Batawang’s belt, is bent on becoming one of the few fighters to defeat the OPBF No.1 challenger.
Much to gain
“I have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” said a confident Dinoy. “Just like him I am strong and tough and my fight record can speak for itself. But my edge is that I am much younger.”
Dinoy has nine wins (eight KOs) against two losses. He has beaten former amateur standout and Olympian Danilo Lerio, Jun Ebale and the late John Eman Juarez.
Their fighting styles will surely make the difference.
“If you are to see only one fight this year – let it be this fight,” said promoter Sammy Gello-ani. “I guarantee you of a non-stop action from start to finish.” RCM
