Barbas cleans up opposition in bowlfest
JOEY Barbas showed a 32-strong field how to blast the lanes as the only player with a zero handicap nabbed a four-game total of 911 to rack up the top plum with an imposing 56-pinfall lead Wednesday night in the Wednesday Group Handicap Tenpin Bowling at the SM Bowling Center-Cebu.
Barbas, who warmed up with a 226-point start, exploded for a game-high 268 pinfalls in Game 2 to build a 10-point lead over Manny Sevilla, 494-484.
Barbas went down with a sloppy Game 3 as he finished with a 172 allowing Sevilla to take the driver’s seat temporarily, 668-666.
Barbas took over at will in Game 4 logging his second best game with 245, while Sevilla lagged with a 187, yielding the final race to the former.
The champion Barbas pocketed P1,000 in the weekly contest backed by Napzki’s Plastic Bag while Sevilla, who settled for an 855 total, got P800.
Delma Longcanaya, on the other hand, bagged P600 for the No.3 spot overall after trailing Sevilla by a hair-thin two points with 853 pinfalls. Napzki Flores clinched the fourth spot with 822, tied with Rey Damole.
Fel Alsagas followed at sixth three points behind Flores and Damole with 819 pinfalls, while Bong Supremo (816), Arthur Areias (814), Beth Ngo (813) and Joe Chu (813) rounded up the top 10.
Interested bowlers may register with Cesar Adora Jr., Celis Viloria or Napzki Flores on Wednesdays, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the SM Bowling Center. PCC
