Cebu bets claim top plums in ROTC national shootfest

SEVENTH Regional Community Defense Group (7RCDG) Commander Col. Eulalio B. Albeza Jr. and Cebu State College of Science and Technology’s Cadet 1st Class Jose Jupiter Orzales took home the bacon as they ruled their respective categories in the National ROTC Shooting Competition recently at the Arescom headquarters in Tanza, Cavite.

Orzales, a second year advanced ROTC cadet, bested a tough field in the.45 caliber category, while Alveza outshot his fellow group commanders from 12 RCDGs in the country also in the .45 caliber division.

Cdt. 1st Class Karl Landee Baybay of Dumaguete City’s Foundation University, meanwhile, took the fifth spot in the M16 rifle category.

Another reservist from Dumaguete, Cdt. 1st Class Ricardo Nanggan Jr. of Silliman University, clinched one of the gathering’s top plums when he was chosen Best Male Cadet of the Year.

Nanggan bumped off 13 other regional candidates for the national plum for his active involvement in campus and community service as commander of the Red Shield Fraternity.

Maj. Gen. Claudio Estalilla, AFP’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservists and Retirees’ Affairs, and Brig. Gen. Dionisio Torina, Commanding General of the Army Reserve Command, graced the awarding ceremony. PCC
