Elorde v. ALA Gym in Mandaue slugfest

EXCITING match-up between two of the country’s respected boxing stables – the ALA Gym and the Elorde Boxing Stable – will fire up Sammy Gello-ani’s boxing promotion “Dream Fights” on April 4 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

“This has been my long time dream to match the ALA boys against the Elorde boxers, but it is only now that I have succeeded to let the two warring groups meet in the ring,” said the elated Gello-ani.

Three fighters from the Elorde Stable are going to see action on the card headlined by ALA Boy Reynald Tribo and Leonil Lazareto Stable’s Jake Verano for the vacant RP junior featherweight title.

The Elorde fighters in the card are RP No.3 flyweight contender Ryan Campeseño, RP No.4 Elderd Romero and veteran mini-flyweight fighter Benjie Sorolla.

The 22-year-old Campeseño boasts of a respectable and impressive fight record of eight wins in 11 fights against two losses and one draw. He also has three knockout wins. Romero is also equipped with a notable ring record, with only three losses and a draw in 16 fights.

Sorolla, the most experienced of the three, has a total of 26 fights with 15 wins, eight losses and three draws.

Campeseno will fight the 17-year-old Rey Bautista, who is slowly carving out a reputation as one of the most promising ALA Boys, who remains undefeated in six fights.

Romero will trade blows with another undefeated ALA boy, tall and lanky Reman Salim, while Sorolla will fight the SGG Stable wonder boy Edmund Velayo.

“I will not risk bringing my boxers here in Cebu if I think they cannot beat the ALA boys. Admittedly, they are good but so are my boys who are more experienced,” said the amiable Marty Elorde. RCM
