TRI-MEDIA AWARDING: Sun.Star to get P47T
SUN.STAR Cebu will claim its record fifth straight overall championship in the Cebu City Tri-Medialympics when the annual multi-event competition concludes with the awarding ceremonies at the Holiday Plaza Hotel on Friday.
The most dominant team in the last five years of the Tri-Media wars, Sun.Star clinched the coveted overall championship and P47,000 in prize money after bagging the championship in volleyball, bowling, men and women’s table tennis and chess.
Sun.Star also reaped the silver in women’s swimming, women’s dart and scrabble to bump off Cebu Daily News from the top spot in the pressure-packed homestretch.
CDN, on the other hand, settled for the runner-up spot after hauling the gold in men’s athletics and men and women’s swimming. CDN will take home P45,5000 after its closest title run in five years.
Other winners
Far at third is ABS-CBN, which nabbed the gold in women’s athletics and Pinoy games to pocket P26,500, while The Freeman is at No.4 with P16,000 after ruling lawn tennis and men and women’s badminton.
RMN-dyHP, which plucked its only gold in billiards, will pocket P12,000 trailed by dyDD, which nabbed the top plums in men and women’s dart. DyMF Bombo Radyo, RPN-9 and dyBT Monster Radio, meantime, will cop P5,000 apiece.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, City Councilor Jack Jakosalem, Cebu City Sport Commission chief Jonathan Guardo and KBP-Cebu Chapter president Bryan Madroñero will grace the event, which will dole out P176,000 in cash prizes to 12 teams that took part in the nearly four-month competitions. PCC
