Jollibee eyes 100 outlets

JOLLIBEE Foods Corp. will expand its present network of over 80 stores in the Visayas and Mindanao (Vismin) to 100 stores by yearend.

This was revealed by Jose Felimon Allid, vice president for the Visayas and Mindanao regional business unit, during an orientation on the company’s “Ranger for your Hunger” promotion at City Sports Club Cebu.

He urged Jollibee-Vismin’s 3,000 employees to support the promotion, saying competition in the food industry is expected to heat up as the May election nears.

The product-specific promotion, which runs from March 15 to June 15, will give Jollibee customers in Vismin who buy high-priced items a chance to win two 2004 Ford Rangers.

Ford backed the promotion because it wants to tap the Vismin market.

Maximino Peralta, Jollibee marketing services manager-Vismin, reported that the promotion was also meant to stave off an anticipated decline in revenues in the latter part of the first quarter “due to the high base in March 2003.”

Holy Week

He also cited the Holy Week and research that shows belt tightening by its primary customer base, the B and C economic classes.

Peralta, however, said the Vismin stores had done well in the first two months of the year.

Sales increased 8.6 percent in January versus the same period last year. February sales also rose 4.5 percent year on year.

Network

Jollibee-Vismin has 84 stores in 26 cities and 21 provinces. Forty percent of these are mall stores, while 25 percent are stand-alone stores.

According to Allid, three million people pass through their doors every day.

Jollibee Foods Corp. is the country’s largest fastfood chain. It had 988 stores at end-2003, including branches of Chowking and Greenwich restaurants and Delifrance cafes. Some 33 of these were located overseas. CTL
