Canadian project trains key execs of biz support groups, gets award
THE Pearl2 project has recognized the importance of key executives of business support organizations (BSOSs) serving their members effectively.
“Inculcating executives with skills, tools and instruments to help their organizations move forward is important. They play a pivotal role in the overall success of the BSO,” Pearl2 project director Arun Abraham said.
Pearl2 or Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Linkages, is a project funded by the Canadian International Development Agency for private sector development. It is mandated to support, through the strengthening of BSOs and investment promotion agencies, the development of small and medium enterprises that create meaningful jobs for both men and women.
The project has three main components. These are the capacity development for investment promotion, the partnership development facility and the sectoral enhancement
Abraham said Pearl2 recently conducted a two-day workshop at the Cebu Midtown Hotel, wherein Pearl2’s publication—“Wanted: Funding for a Great Idea,” which gives perspectives on best practices in project development and management was also launched.
The workshop was participated in by representatives of 14 chambers of commerce and business organizations in the Visayas.
During the induction of officers and new members of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) last Friday, the CCCI gave Pearl2 a plaque of appreciation in recognition of its contribution to the organization and the Cebu business community in general. JBN
