Plantation Bay puts up climbing wall, indoor shooting range

PLANTATION Bay Mactan has added a climbing wall and a indoor shooting range among its sports and recreation facilities that can be used for local and national sports competitions.

The resort also added an archery range and a putting green for recreational and leisure use.

Plantation Bay Mactan, through the efforts of general manager Efren Belarmino, built the new sports facilities to further promote sports among the local and international market.

The indoor shooting range, which is managed by international range officer Mariano Nonoy Ateza, can host short-range competitions. It has a standard distance of seven meters and is best suited for short courses for seven and nine-round weapons.

One of the events that can be held in the indoor-shooting range is precision shooting and even the classifier course.

“We can definitely host any of these events and the area is suitable and the resort will be relaxing to all participants,” Arteza said.

Ateza, who has competed in the World Shoot, 1997 Southeast Asian Games and other international competitions, said enthusiasts will be satisfied of their shooting range.

The 30-foot wall for climbing, on the other hand, is best suited for speed climbing competitions.
“It is a difficult course and that is why it will be a challenge for those who will come and try it,” Plantation Bay’s communications manager Sunshine Gregorio said.

The wall is jagged with holders arms length away from each other, which makes it interesting and more challenging. Plantation Bay has hired climbing instructors to assist clients. CBR
