Raid yields gun, 20 shabu packs
TASK Force Sagittarius of Lapu-Lapu City police yesterday raided a couple’s house in Barangay Gun-ob and confiscated packs of shabu and a gun.
Task force team leader Geoffrey Baguio and his men went to the house of 31-year-old Edaward de la Peña Soronio, alias Edoy, and Angelina Japzon Neri, 28, in Sitio Tugas around 5 a.m.
They found 20 packs of suspected shabu, a .22 revolver with four bullets, 14 empty packs with suspected shabu traces, two bullets from a. 38, sniffing paraphernalia, two cellular phones and P940 cash believed to be drugs proceeds.
Police immediately arrested the two and prepared drug and illegal gun possession case against them.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Louie Oppus said his men had long been observing the couple’s activities until they confirmed that the two were into drugs.
Baguio and his men immediately applied for a search warrant last Tuesday at the sala of Regional Trial Court Branch 5 Judge Ireneo Gako.
The task force, composed of policemen from different units within the city police, was created by Oppus to combat illegal drugs in the component city.
The task force has made several successful buy-bust operations, and was also responsible for the investigation of two members of its own ranks for allegedly coddling drug pushers. OCP
