Asian Spirit at 8 By Trifina Sala
An auspicious number for their luckiest year yet. Trifina Sala celebrates as the people's airline turns eight.
Asian Spirit celebrated its eighth anniversary with a cocktail bash at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel last May 11. The event was well attended by members of the press, members of the tourism and travel sector of Cebu, officers of Asian Spirit as well as their families and friends.
Asian Spirit chairman Noel Oñate, general manager Bingo Zamora, director Butch Rodriguez, sales executive Henry Gadin and manager of Inflight Service Cybel Po, were all there to celebrate Asian Spirit’s eight successful years. Doy Lacson of Seair, Leslie Dabuet of Malaysian Airlines, Janice Nabua of Cathay Pacific, Dolly Dabuet of Air Philippines and Richie Tuaño of Qatar Airways celebrated along with them. Of course, an airline is not without its affiliates. To name a few, Cora and Angelo Tuaño of San Miguel Corp., Cecile Montecillo of Wanderland, and Tony Garcia of Cebu Pacific Catering was there to celebrate Asian Spirit’s success as well. Marriott General Manager Karl Hudson and Herbert Villarosa were around to make sure everything went smoothly.
Guests were greeted at the door with drinks, treated to a sumptuous buffet with free flowing wine and entertained by the spirited music of the band Replay. The program started off with host Jude Bacalso introducing a short video chronicling the history and progress of Asian Spirit, followed by the awarding of the Asian Spirit Top Producers of 2003. The Gold award went to Modern Teknika Group of Allan Carvajal; the Silver award to Cebu Morning Star of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Dy while the Bronze was awarded to Golden JC Holiday Travel of Mr. and Mrs. Jack O. Several prizes were raffled off, among trips to various Asian Spirit destinations. and 3 days, 2 nights stay at the Pink Patio in Boracay.
“Fly an Asian, land in good Spirits” might sum up what sets Asian Spirit apart from the rest. Several glasses of wine and a few colorful jokes later, I’m pretty sure thats how everyone was feeling. Here’s to eight years of flying people to where the party is. Cheers!
