Pinay first woman to chair global finance execs group
DR. Conchita Manabat, chairperson of C.L. Mana-bat & Co., was elected as the first woman chairperson of the International Association of Financial Executives Institute (IAFEI).
The executive committee of the IAFEI met in Paris, France on May 14 and nominated Dr. Manabat as chairperson and Patrick Dumouchel of France as vice chairman for 2005 for appointment at the board meeting in October in Florence, Italy.
No other nominations were made, a statement said.
“For the first time in 35 years, a lady will hold such a prestigious position, and thanks to Conchita’s great commitment. This is also a due recognition of the important role played by the Philippines in IAFEI since its foundation,” said Guiliana Bertin, executive director of IAFEI.
IAFEI is an association of financial professionals in many parts of the world with its purpose of linking with all the national institutes, thereby advancing the understanding of concepts and improvements of financial management.
Manabat, a certified public accountant and a Ph.D. in organization and development planning, is the founding partner of C.L. Manabat & Co., the Philippine affiliate of auditing firm Deloitte.
