Sally avenges loss to Jopia
TOP-SEEDS went on to rule the Liloan Age-Group Tennis Tournament in the final round yesterday in Liloan, Cebu.
Sally Mae Siso of Osaka Iridology and Dunlop avenged her previous loss to former RP No.4 Julia Ann Jopia in the 12-Under, 6-2, 6-2, for the first time after six match-ups.
In the 15-Under, Kennex Abadia of Naga survived an exhausting semifinal clash with James Karl Cañete, whom he never defeated previously, 6-4, 7-5, 9-8.
Cañete confidently took the first set but the hard-fighting Abadia extended the game by a close win in the second set. Abadia had a long third set ahead of him but managed to slip past Cañete with a one-point edge in the game winning set.
But the grueling semifinals seemed to have drained Abadia, who lost to Ryan Repunte in the championship round, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
In the Boys 12-Under, Bernardine “Niño” Siso, also of Osaka Iridology and Dunlop, expectedly nabbed the title after casting out Jayvee Canoy of USJ-R 6-1, 6-3. KIP
