Speak out: My children's struggle By Enzo D'Avola
When in April of 1999 my problems started and I was arrested (the case was later dismissed), my two boys Maurice and Nana were studying at St. Benedict’s. Because I was incarcerated, I wasn’t able to pay the tuition of my children.
My children transferred to the Triune God then enrolled at the University of San Carlos where they were allowed to study until last year. This year, Maurice is supposed to be in fourth year high school but he and the other child Nana could no longer enroll because the school already wanted them to submit their complete school records.
However, the principal of St. Benedict’s would not release the school records of the boys unless I pay the tuition for school year 1998-99. The statement of account given to me was about P100,000.
Unfortunately, I still don’t have the money to pay the school. I lost everything in 1999 and my new venture, Cebu Italian Pizza Connection, is still a baby losing money. Consider, too, that the court granted me custody of my four children, all in school age, making me a single parent.
I am willing to face a case in court if the school decides to sue me. But I hope that they will just spare the children. They are now in danger of losing the chance to go to school for lack of complete school records. They are even now sitting in protest in front of the school just so their school records will be released.
Please help my boys.
