Girl, 9, gets P5 from ‘rapist’
IF NOT for the P5 coin she was holding, a nine-year-old pupil would not have told her mother of the sexual abuse committed by one of their neighbors against her.
Alice (not her real name) said her mother’s questions about the P5 coin the alleged abuser gave her, after the attack, prompted her to talk about her ordeal.
Because of Alice’s unchallenged testimony, the Office of the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor filed a rape cases in relation to child abuse against Junifer “Masang” Dijos.
Dijos fled after the incident and could no longer be found at his residence in San Isidro, Talisay City.
Lighter
In her affidavit, Alice said that around 11 a.m. last Jan. 1, her mother requested her to get a lighter from their neighbor.
While she was on her way to get the lighter, Dijos allegedly called her into his house. Inside, Dijos forcibly removed her shorts and underwear while he also took off his briefs.
Dijos allegedly forced her to lie down, then molested her.
After that, Dijos gave Alice P5 and told her not to tell anyone.
In a medical certificate, Dr. Rachel Dahlia Yu of the Women and Children Friendly Center said she found signs of sexual abuse in Alice.
Since rape is a heinous crime, the provincial prosecutor’s Office did not recommend bail for Dijos. GN
