14 basketball teams collide in Argao Mayor’s Cup Sunday
ARGAO, Cebu’s basketball fanatics take to the hardcourt when the second conference of the Argao Mayor’s Cup tournament tips off this Sunday, July 4, at the Argao Basketball Coliseum.
Organized by the George Albarracin-led Argao Basketball League (ABL), the tournament will pit players aged 35 years old and above.
However, permanent employees of the municipality under 35 years old may suit up in the event, as specified in the rules.
In line with the town’s upcoming fiesta in honor of its patron St. Michael Archangel, 14 teams collide divided into two brackets.
Single round robin
The top three teams in each division will advance to the single round robin semifinals while the finals will be a sudden-death game.
CSCST-AIFC, Talaga, PNP, Langtad, Lamacan, Argao Parish and the Argao Habal-habal Riders make up Division A.
Division B, meantime, is composed of Cowassco, Honda-Argao, Calumpang Urchins, DENR-Argao, Argao Revival, LGU 1 and LGU 2.
Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. JSV
