Quiot barangay tanod subject of manhunt
A 41-YEAR-OLD tanod of Barangay Quiot, Cebu City is now the subject of a police manhunt after he left for dead a neighbor in a shooting incident last Saturday night.
Tanod Rolando Murillo was no longer found in his residence in Murillo Subdivision, Quiot, while victim Angelo Añana is in critical condition at the Cebu City Medical Center, after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Initial investigation by the Cebu City Police Homicide Section showed the incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, near the house of Añana in Sitio Kawayan, Bayanihan Village, Quiot.
Añana was reportedly sitting on an improvised stool a few meters from his house when an enraged Murillo, a newly appointed barangay tanod, arrived and started scolding the victim for no apparent reason.
Añana, upon the prodding of his wife, initially went inside his house to avoid trouble.
Murillo, however, allegedly continued yelling at Añana, prompting the latter to confront the suspect.
The confrontation led to a fistfight.
Murillo suddenly pulled out a gun tucked in his waistband and shot Añana several times.
Añana was wounded in his forehead, right side of his neck and the right collarbone.
Murillo immediately fled from the area, while Añana was rushed to the city hospital, where his condition is being close-ly monitored.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operations recovered one deformed slug at the crime scene.
PO1 Fredilson Co-dilla, one of the investigators, said they have already coordinated with officials of Barangay Quiot who, in turn, promised to turn over the suspect when he reports for duty. JST
