Monday, July 26, 2004 DTI Cebu now allows follow up on transactions thru text messages
CLIENTS of the Department of Trade and Industry-Cebu Provincial Office (DTI-CPO) need not go its office anymore to inquire on the status of their transaction.
Through the “E-txt DTI Cebu” project, clients may just send the text message—DTICEB reference number of transaction or client’s pre-registered cell phone number—to 2333 for Globe Telecom and Touch Mobile subscribers to follow up on their transactions, and they will be answered immediately also via text messaging, according to a statement.
Negotiations for a Smart Communications four-digit code are in progress.
Transactions included in the project are business name applications, business name verification, sales promotion permit applications, business licenses applications, accreditation of service and repair shop applications, consumer cases and price monitoring results.
The text messaging, which costs P2.50 per text message, aims to use information and communications technology for efficient, responsive and quality client servicing considering the limited telephone lines of DTI-CPO, and offer convenience to clients by doing away with personal follow-up.
As regards price monitoring, clients will have to key in the commodities such as milk, coffee, sardines, that they want to check. A text response on the prevailing prices will immediately be given.
The “E-txt DTI Cebu” project started in February. The DTI-CPO is now working on enhancing the facility, such as adding the name of the establishment with the lowest price at the end of the text response on price monitoring, adding a comment code on the services of DTI Cebu to gauge customer satisfaction and needs, and adding an information component on the other activities, like training, of DTI-Cebu.
