Monday, July 26, 2004 Amcham rock, disco shindig By Mila C. Espina
What was meant to be a rock and roll night turned into a disco shindig as well when some 450 guests of the Fil-US Friend ship Day held at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel clamored for more singing and dancing from the 50’s to hip-hop, but certainly with big, big prizes.
Amcham president John Domingo, past president Glenn Westerman, banker Michael Go and Cherry Pie Callelero took the centerstage to enliven the affair. Event chair Karl Hudson, a John Travolta look-a-like that evening, with sidekick Bambam did a great job in the venue layout. Food was great!
Some surprises were the search for the Elvis look- or sound-alike, most appropriate attires, the best in twist, rock and roll couple and name the tune (Elvis songs!) The Cebu Performing Arts (Amparito Lhuillier and USJ-R Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble alumni) set the dance floor rolling with excerpts from Grease and Jailhouse Rock.
Proceeds of this yearly affair will go to the community and cultural projects of Amcham.
