ORIENTAL and Pacific Boxing Federation welterweight champion Rev “Gentle Giant” Santillan puts his belt at stake tonight when he fights No.10 contender Taisei Muramoto at the Prefectural Gym in Osaka, Japan.
Santillan, who left the country with his manager Rex “Wakee” Salud, trainer Brix Flores, ringside judge Arnel Pasion and four other boxers last Thursday, wants no less than an overwhelming victory to keep his reclaimed belt.
Santillan, who holds a 20-1-1 win-loss-draw record with 15 knockout victories against Marumoto’s 14-4-1 (7 KOs) slate, regained the belt after beating former champion Hiroshi Watanabe in their
third encounter.
Fighting underneath the Santillan-Marumoto championship match is RP mini-flyweight champion Elmer Gejon’s bout against Katsunari Takayama for 10 rounds.
Gejon is ranked No.1 in the OPBF, while Takayama is rated No.4. Romeo Buhawi will see action against Zaiki Takemoto also for 10 rounds. Roger Galicia and Rey Orais are also slated to fight in the same card. RCM
