PHILIPPINE Long Distance Telephone Co. has more than doubled the capacity for its digital subscriber line (DSL) service in Cebu to accommodate a total of 7,000 subscribers from only 3,000 previously.
PLDT center head for Visayas business district Joe Apelo said the encouraging increase in the number of DSL subscribers in Cebu led PLDT to expand the capacity and the coverage of the DSL (high-speed Internet) service.
“We are already processing a record number of DSL applications per day, and we want to give as many Cebuanos as possible the benefits of high-speed Internet through our DSL service,” said Apelo.
Dominant
PLDT now has a nearly 60 percent market share for DSL in Cebu, a company statement said.
Mon Rivera, PLDT head of operations support group, said the company is aiming to more than double its subscriber base by the end of the year.
Butch Jimenez, PLDT head for the retail business group, said PLDT hopes to increase awareness of the DSL service and encourage its use by both the business and retail markets.
