Student leaders urged to join youth congress

The Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC) is searching for well-rounded students committed to excellence and with a strong love for the country and our people.

AYLC is a summit that brings together 70 of the most promising student leaders from colleges and universities all over the country. It is part of the Ayala Group’s youth leadership program called “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders,” which was launched in December 1998.

The congress, now on its 7th year, is a three and a half-day event involving workshops, lectures, outdoor activities, plenary sessions and group discussions designed to hone the students’ leadership skills and potential.

Qualifications

Only student leaders graduating in school year 2005-2006 may apply for the congress. An applicant must be a Filipino citizen 25 years old or younger, bonafide regular student of the school, pursuing his first bachelor’s degree, in the top 10% of his college or department, a model of integrity, discipline and excellence, a recognized, active and effective student leader in campus,
Active leader or officer of any student organization, is excellent with communication skills, possesses not more than one failing mark in any subject for the duration of his enrollment in college, must not have been subjected to any disciplinary case in or outside the campus, must be a third year student in a four-year course, a fourth year student in a five-year course or a fifth year student in a six-year course.

Intramed students or those pursuing a seven-year medical degree should be in their third year of college.

Applications

To apply, one must accomplish the Student Application Form (ask for a copy from your school or download the form at www.ayalayoungleaders.ph), and submit this to the designated officer in one’s school.

The panels will select the top 70 students and only these will be invited to participate in the congress on Feb. 1-4, 2005 in Tagaytay city. Ayala will take care of transportation as well as board and lodging for the interviews and for the actual congress.

For questions, one may call the AYLC Secretariat at (02) 750-1364, 894-5620 or e-mail aylc@ayalafoundation.org or fax (02) 813-4488 or 87. One may also visit the Ayala Young Leaders website, www.ayalayoungleaders.ph.
