FORMER Pan-Asia Boxing Association light flyweight champion Marvin “The Kid” Tampus continued his unfruitful campaign in Indonesia following another defeat Tuesday night in the RCTI TV Boxing in Jakarta.
Tampus lost to Angky Angkota by unanimous decision after 10 rounds, handing the 20-year-old Stonewall Boxing Club gem his third defeat in 17 professional fights.
The loss was highlighted by two one-point deductions for hitting below the belt. Tampus could have secured his first victory in Indonesia had it not been for the deductions.
“Marvin lost by unanimous decision. He was deducted twice for low blow. It was a close fight. (Marvin’s trainer) Tony (Jumao-as) said Marvin was winning,” said Stonewall Boxing Club manager Joy Ouano.
It was also in Jakarta where Tampus lost his Pan-Asia Boxing Federation light flyweight belt last April 13 to Vicky Tahumil after 12 rounds, following a controversial technical draw with Anis Ceufin on March 16.
Tampus now fights in the heavier flyweight category. (RCM)
