Wednesday, September 01, 2004 Game fowl breeders create organization
Game fowl breeders have put up a new organization called the Central Visayas Breeders Association (CVBA).
This was organized by the Cebu Game Fowl Breeders Association (CGFBA).
The new body, which was conceptualized early this year, aims to foster camaraderie and mutual exchange of ideas among fowl breeders, and enhance technology and breeding.
According to W. Rainier P. Valencia, one of the CVBA trustees, they are committed to conduct one compulsory stag derby in a year only. However, they may sponsor regular cock derbies from time to time, which is not compulsory to members.
The official venue of the derby will be the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan (WAH&C).
“We are going to conduct an open stag derby by the last week of October, which will be open to all breeders,” said Valencia.
The CVBA will be accepting new members by March 2005 and at the same time be conducting a wing-bonding season, which serves as a preliminary screening or a process of determining the age and qualification of the stag or the male chicken prior to its entry to a derby.
For more information, one may contact Valencia at 253-6655 or 0919-2744601. (Krizette Audrey P. Pantinople, USJ-R Masscom intern)
