Wednesday, September 01, 2004 General Motors launches latest Chevrolet models
General Motors Automobiles Philippines (GMPh) recently introduced two new additions to the Chevrolet vehicle lineup: the Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT and the Chevrolet Optra 1.8L.
“In line with our commitment to deliver the finest and best-value products in the Philippine market, we introduce the TrailBlazer EXT and the Optra 1.8L and offer a full site of Chevrolet products that will cater to different segments of the market,” GMPh president and general manager James Lim said.
The Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT, a mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) and leader in its segment in the US, completes the top-caliber SUV lineup of GMPh, which currently includes the Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Chevrolet Optra 1.8L is the more luxurious and more powerful edition of the Optra 1.6L.
“We are expecting the Chevrolet Optra 1.8L to equal if not surpass the success of its predecessor and continue to boost the sales of GMPh,” Lim added.
Since its launch last year, the Optra 1.6L retained its no. 3 position in the mid-size passenger category.
Regional thrust
According to Bill Botwick, executive director for Asean operations of GM Asia Pacific and concurrent president of GM Thailand, who visited Manila recently, the introduction of new Chevrolet products in the Philippines as well as the local dealer network expansion efforts support the regional thrust of General Motors to gain leadership in the Asia Pacific region.
The Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT and Chevrolet Optra 1.8L join current Chevrolet showroom movers such as mainstream passenger cars Optra 1.6L, Aveo, Zafira; SUVs Suburban and Tahoe; and minivan Venture.
“We continue to see an uptake in the sales of our Chevrolet vehicles. With the value add-ons that we are giving as part of every purchase, we would like our esteemed customers to feel that they are getting the most out of their vehicle investment,” Lim said.
