Talk back: Our country’s bad luck
By Vicente P. Cujardo
Lahug, Cebu City

Letter writer Adrian Arquiza says that the downfall of the Philippines started with the death of Ninoy Aquino and his widow's rise to power. I don't think so.

Our bad luck began when the government was taken over by the Filipinos. Too much politics and greed for power ruined this nation.

I wonder if the late Manuel Quezon was joking, when he said, "I would rather see the Philippines run like hell by Filipinos than run like heaven by the Americans."

It would have been better had he taught his countrymen to behave like the natives of Hawaii who see no harm for their land to be a part of the United States.
