Adidas throws support to URBL

ADIDAS threw its support to United Regional Basketball League (URBL), becoming the league’s official outfitter by providing the uniforms to all five teams of the community-based league.

Aside from uniforms and shoes, Adidas is also using the URBL as its launching pad for its latest product – the Adidas magnetic touch basketball that will be the league’s official basketball.

Adidas Philippines marketing director Angelica Suiza and sports marketing manager Goody Custodio recently announced the finalization of the deal.

Founding teams

This as URBL is now ready for its Sept. 25 opening at the Cebu Coliseum with live national TV coverage for its 45-minute opening rite.

There will be two scheduled games that will feature the league’s two Cebu-based basketball teams – Lactovitale-Cebu Province in the opening game and M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu City in the main match.

M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu City, Lactovitale-Cebu Province, Ilocos Sur Snipers, Quezon Province and Harbour Centre-Pampanga as the league’s founding members.

Games of the URBL will be on a home-and-away format. Teams are required to enlist at least four homegrown players from their regions. (RCM)
