Prohhorov: Coping with life these days
By Gina Prohhorov
Great potentials

There is so much talk about the fiscal crisis , tax increase, oil price increase but no wage increase!

Everything is going up so everyone has to cope up.

How could one lifestyle be with all such pressures? Will there still be time for socials when you have to devote most of your time to raise money? Will there still be sales and deals when everyone is cost cutting?

Will there still be a chance to buy a new dress or new shoes from the remaining salary? Will there still be a chance to go to the parlor for the weekly facials?

Well, there are things you cannot control but there are still things you can do to cope up. Try any of the following things which are applicable in your lives :

1.Since money is the required basic factor then you must perform well in your job.

Love your job but if you do not, there is no sense of you being there.

You must earn as well as be happy in your chosen career. If not, you have to find a challenging job for yourself.

2.To perform well in your job, you must , foremost , be on time!

Sad to say it is the basic requirement but the least implemented. Otherwise, you cannot finish what you have to do in a day because you started late.

3.Stop all the unexcusable excuses like, “ you left the key, the alarm did not ring, flat tire, something got lost”……..endless unprofessional excuses.

4.Try to be presentable at the office. Well-groomed account officers close more deals easily. No money for facials? There are budgeted facials packs at P50 which you yourself can apply on and be cleansed and get refreshed.

If no P50, then get some cucumbers, papaya and the favorite kalamansi to clean your face. Remember no excuses.!

5.You cannot also go to work on Mondays without having recharged on your day – off. De-stress but how? No money? Well, for some just going window shopping is a therapy. But for some, it is painful just to walk past a mannequin without being able to purchase the blouse on it. So? Well, list down all the big things that can make you happy like shopping, having a Swedish massage, eating in your favorite Japanese restaurant, etc.

Make another list of small, cheap things that can make you happy like buying your monthly woman’s magazine, car magazine, latest CD, favorite canned-tuna flavor, etc.

If it is really a NCO Day , No Cash-Out day then that should have a separate list.

Make then your NCO list of things you have no time to do but have to do , like, arranging your family album , sorting out the clothes in your cabinet, checking your plants in the garden, bathing your pets, studying a new recipe, or just sleeping. Can you image how many miles your feet have walked in your entire life? It is great to have a quiet, long sleep to make up for those busy days.

6. Buying clothes should now be an investment. Buy what you need and what is most appropriate for your career. Do not buy when you are in a rush. Surveys show how many unused clothes are stored in the cabinets all due to hasty shopping.

7. If you love eating in restaurants, you would be surprised to see a lot of ingredients and ready to mix sauce packs available now in the groceries.

All these are the ones used by professional cooks , too. So you can prepare your own favorite dish right in your own homes. Definitely, much cheaper and even more in quantity.

8. Last tip to cope up is to make sure you enhance your communication skills.

Whatever job offer there is, you must be able to sell yourself in the job interview.

It is unfortunate to note that one call center agency has been going around the provinces to hire more agents. With 3,000 applicants on the first day, only half were left for the second round of interviews.

They finally , were able to hire only two ! So brush up on your grammar, practice your public speaking and express yourselves!
