This year’s Miss Naga beauty quest is again handled by Talentfolio. The beauty search is one of the highlights of the annual celebration and will anchor on the theme “The Filipina Today.”

The screening of the official candidates was done last Sept. 11.

Theorganizers say that the event will be a “blazing parade of beauty and intelligence.” We’ll expect that.

Another event that has already earned a following, and is anticipated every year, is the Queen City Run, which is dubbed as “Asia’s 1st Mardi Gras Run.”

Organized by the Cebu Visitors and Conventions Bureau (CVCB), in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 7, the event this time aims to take the run to a different level to create awareness of the historical sites and landmarks of Cebu.

The new race route will start at Kawit Point, where the DOT building will rise, passing through the scenic area towards the Malacañang sa Sugbu, to Fort San Pedro, Plaza Independencia, back to the SRP up to the bridge near Talisay, then back to the starting area.

For those interested in participating, there are at least three ways to enjoy the event: “jog it, walk it or simply enjoy the finish line frolic.” Contact Bernadette Jingco, event manager, at 255-1250 or 254-7850 or at the email address: queencityrun@yahoo.com for the details.

His winsome smile and the F4 hairstyle were among the assets that this show biz newcomer used to the maximum to attain his objective of making it big in the career path that he has chosen.

His achievement of reaching the final four in GMA 7’s talent search, Starstruck, was thought by those closest to him as the biggest thing to happen to him. Even Rainier Castillo was also very thankful that he has reached that far, not knowing that it was only the beginning, a door that opened for more opportunities for him.

Little did he imagine that he’d be able to enter the recording world. But as fate would have it, Rainier has already an album to his credit due to the trust and belief in his talent by people from Universal Records, especially executive producer Bella Dy Tan.

The carrier single, I Love You Babe, the same title of the CD album itself, is now a familiar tune in the airlanes. Composed by hit-maker Lito Camo, the single highlights Rainier’s vocal prowess, which was enhanced by his training under professor Anthony Salazar of the University of the Philippines.

The other cuts in the album are Hanggang Ngiti Na Lang (still by Lito Camo), Salamat sa Pansin and Baby Baby (also by Lito C). The rest of the cuts are the minus-ones of the songs for sing-along enthusiasts.

As if to reinforce the perception, or simply to confirm that Cebuanos and those from other places who are residing here temporarily or permanently have indeed caught the “virus” of self-pampering, two more establishments aimed in that direction have recently opened and was attended by Cebu’s glitterati including members of the media.

Last Friday afternoon, the third outlet of au Revoir Spa Salon (after the Borromeo and Cebu Business Hotel outlets) opened at Salinas Drive. It’s located directly across The Hangar where Sunflower City and all the other establishments are situated.

It’s owned by the beauteous and young entrepreneur Glenda Tochip. Discounts might still be offered at this time. Inquire to be sure.

Personally, I have lost count of the number of outlets that Body and Sole Body Massage and Foot Spa has established around the metropolis. It seems like the outfit has been set up in practically all the strategic places.

Last Saturday, just a day after au Revoir–Salibnas opened, Body and Sole Tisa branch opened its doors to clients. Because of a very important commitment in Danao city, yours truly however failed to honor the invitation.

Just the same, this corner extends its best wishes to the two establishments.
