Jetro invites Cebu firms to Japan IT outsourcing fair

THE Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) is inviting Cebuano companies to join the Jetro Outsourcing Fair for IT (information technology) Software (J-ofis) 2005 from Jan. 25-27 in Akasaka, Tokyo, Japan.

Jetro-Manila executive director Toshio Asakura said his office is still accepting fair applicants.

J-ofis welcomes overseas IT companies positioned to accept software development orders from Japanese firms, he said.

So far, three Cebuano companies have confirmed their participation in the fair. These are Alliance Software Inc., N-Pax and Boom Interactive.

N-Pax is a new participant, while Alliance and Boom Interactive participated in the J-ofis last year.

“The companies, Alliance especially, (which has been joining the fair since it started three years ago), are getting good results, such as outsourcing projects from Japanese companies,” Asakura said.

Participants of the J-ofis will get Jetro’s assistance in having business meetings with Japanese firms and arranging consulting services by Japanese IT experts for free with free interpreters, among others.

Jetro also guarantees participants a “visitors’ list” after J-ofis 2005 for future follow-up.

Asakura said Japan’s software developers are eager to outsource portions of their development projects to overseas outsourcing companies with the hope of securing qualified human resources and reducing software development costs.

Exhibition fee is US$1,300 or 143 JPY. (JBN)
