Female spa manager shot in business center

A manager of a skin care center was shot yesterday morning as she was about to go to work at the Keppel Tower along Camotes Road in Cebu Business Park.

Imelda Ong Maghanoy, 35, manager of Facial Care Center, survived three gunshot wounds and is confined at the Chong Hua Hospital, where she was at the intensive care unit as of 10 last night.

Maghanoy was getting out of a Honda Civic car driven by her husband Richard, 35, when two men on a motorcycle fired four shots at her about 7:30 a.m.

Imelda was standing beside the front passenger seat, while Richard was opening the baggage compartment to get Imelda’s belongings, when she got shot.

Imelda was wounded below the right armpit, in the left side of the chest and in the left arm.

As the two men on the Honda Dream motorcycle sped off, duty security guard Roel Arellano pulled out his service revolver and fired at them.

The passenger reportedly fired back at Arellano but missed.

From the Keppel Tower, the motorcycle made a left turn and sped towards the road leading to the Cebu City Marriott Hotel.

Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operations recovered a deformed slug and Imelda’s brown handbag at the crime scene.

Police have yet to establish a motive for the incident.

According to Homicide Section Chief Mario Monilar, they already have two witnesses.

The witnesses gave their descriptions of the gunman to an artist for a sketch.

Imelda told investigators she did not know her attackers.

Richard, when asked, also did not know of any threats to his wife’s life.

Since both were still shaken, Monilar said they will conduct another interview after they have gotten over the shock.

Employees of Facial Care Center, located at the 12th floor of the building, also had nothing for investigators, saying they did not know if Imelda has any enemies. (MEA)
