Phone Pals win again without Asi

THE Talk ‘N’ Text Phone Pals continued to show their rivals that they can do without Asi Taulava as they won, 96-77, over the Coca-Cola Tigers yesterday in the Gran Matador-Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup at the Philsports Arena.

In the opening game, Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs got back into winning form following an 89-87 squeaker over the Sta. Lucia Realtors.

Playing their second game without main man Taulava, who was suspended by PBA Commissioner Noli Eala along with five others cited by the Department of Justice for misrepresentation in obtaining their citizenship papers, the Phone Pals drew stellar performance from Vic Pablo, who tallied 27 points to lead all scorers of the Phone Pals.

Pablo, who registered an 8-of-15 field goal shooting clip, also had eight boards to snare the Best Player of the Game award. (JSV)
