Furniture exporters set to give Cebu X preview

IN celebration of its 30 years of professional support to the Philippine furniture export industry, the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation Inc. (CFIF) will hold a Photo Exhibit and Cebu X 2005 Preview at the Entertainment Center, Ayala Center Cebu on Nov. 14–21.

The exhibit is a celebration of the finest art and design of Cebu-made furniture. Cebu is the export capital of the Philippines, accounting for over 80 percent of the country’s furniture export sales.

CFIF has helped make the Philippine furniture industry the leader of high-quality and design-oriented furniture and furnishing in Asia.

The exhibit is a tribute to Cebuano ingenuity, creativity and craftsmanship.

As Edward

Carey, general manager of Maitland-Smith, put it: “Filipinos are much better at carving and detail. This makes Cebu hard to beat since it has the best carvers— naturally artistic, creative and innovative people.”

The photo exhibit will also serve as the preview of the Cebu International Furniture and Furnishing Exhibition (Cebu X) 2005.

The CFIF, organizer of the annual Cebu X, is the primary professional support organization of the furniture industry. It groups 172 of the most successful furniture manufacturers and exporters, mostly Cebu based, in the country.
