CIC to mark 125th year
“125 Years of Spirited Presence.”
This is the theme of Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion’s (CIC) 125th founding anniversary celebration. The CIC administration and the CIC Alumni Association (Cicaa) join hands to make the annual alumni homecoming a memorable affair with different activities all geared towards CIC’s thrust on charity and education.
Nov. 29 is Medical Mission Day where medical practitioners, all graduates of CIC, will offer free medical and dental services to an adopted barangay.
The opening of the event will start with a holy mass on Nov. 30, 8:30 a.m., at the CIC Chapel. Celebrant is Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal.
An invitation to all past Cicaa presidents will be for Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is Presidents’ Day and a forum for all past presidents will be devoted to development programs of CIC.
On Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m., there will be a musicale chorale at the CIC auditorium. Everyone is invited to a Food Festival and Family Day on Dec. 3-4 at the CIC school grounds starting at 8 a.m.
Dec. 5, homecoming day, begins with a concelebrated mass at 8:30 a.m. at the CIC auditorium. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to formally open the one-year exhibit at the CIC Paascu Office. A Christmas bazaar will be opened at the school grounds.
‘Turn of the Century’
“Turn of the Century,” the grand alumni homecoming ball at
the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino grand ballroom, is set at 7:30 p.m. on the same day.
Honorees for this year are: batch 1944-diamond jubilarians; batch 1949-emerald jubilarians; batch 1954-golden jubilarians; batch 1959-sapphire jubilarians; batch 1964-ruby jubilarians; batch 1969-coral jubilarians;
Batch 1974-pearl jubilarians; batch 1979-silver jubilarians; batch 1984-platinum jubilarians; batch 1989-crystal jubilarians; batch 1994-aluminum jubilarians; batch 1999-wood jubilarians; and batch 2003-paper jubilarians and all “parvulitos” or the boys who studied in CIC during their primary grades.
Tickets are sold at the Cicaa office and through respective coordinators at P800. Dec. 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, will be celebrated with a mass at the CIC auditorium.
Fundraising drive
Cicaa has also launched a fundraising drive called “Raffle for a Cause.” One’s donation of P100 per ticket will help build the future of the CIC Night High School and other charitable projects of the association. The raffle draw is set on the day of the homecoming ball.
The Cicaa officers for 2004-2006 are: Stella Solero-Bernabe, president; Marichu Jimenea, vice president-internal; Wilhelmina Espiritu-Tobias, vice president-external; Mariter Dumon-Klepp, secretary; Cynthia Yap-Dagus, assistant secretary; Bernadette Jingco, treasurer; Floram Camomot-Limotlimot, assistant treasurer; Lourdes Trinidad-Celis, auditor; Aida Escoto-Ocampo, Josefa Veloso-Oropesa, PROs; Laura Ouano-Villanueva, director.
Advisers are Sister Zenaida Condes, DC, Sister Teresa Espedido, DC, Anita Cabahug-Trasmonte, and Victoria Liao Lamco. Cirilita Cabahug-Fortuna sits as ex-officio member.
