Robbery brings cops together

THE cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue are sharing intelligence information to arrest the suspects who took, at gunpoint, the cash intended for city hospital employees last Friday.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Louie Oppus learned from his Mandaue counterpart, Edgardo Inking, that the suspects were responsible for the series of robberies there.

Lapu-Lapu City police believe the suspects were also involved in robberies in Cebu City.

Oppus already coordinated with the city directors in both cities to track them down.

Traced

He said they also traced the suspects’ motorcycle in Danao City.

Lapu-Lapu City Theft and Robbery Section Chief SPO4 Rene Cotamora identified two of the three suspects as Nardo Abapo and Danny Limutan. (Both men hail from Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.)
He said they have yet to identify the third suspect.

The three suspects were on board a motorcycle when they approached the multicab driven by Felipe Rosalejos, with Carmencita Dungog and Felixberta Dakay as his passengers. The multicab had stopped for a red light on the first bridge approach at the Lapu-Lapu City side around 1:45 p.m.

Abapo allegedly struck the windshield and pointed a .45 pistol on the terrified victims. He then took the bag, held by Dungog, that contained P185,000.

The victims were able to identify two of the suspects through photos from the TRS.

Possible connection

Cotamora and SPO2 Willy Amores raided the suspects’ safe houses hours after the robbery, but did not find anything.

Police are also looking at the suspects’ connection with Rey Torres and Roldan Rodriguez, who were arrested months back.

Cebu City Mobile Patrol Group members arrested the two last Sept. 15 at the SM parking area right after they held up a lending firm collector.

The two later admitted that they were also involved in the Pepsi Co. robbery in Mandaue City last June 5, where they took P564,000 cash and shot Pepsi salesman Rey Enemecio and truck assistant Margarito Alin Jr. for resisting.

Torres and Rodriguez were reportedly with a certain Danny and Nardo, which police later found out to be surnamed Limutan and Abapo respectively.

Coincidence?

But Torres and Rodriguez operated alone when they staged the SM robbery.

Cotamora said he is yet to check with the Cebu City police if Abapo and Limutan have unserved warrants for the Pepsi robbery.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City police learned that Torres is out on bail. (OCP)
