Malilong: Woman now in control By Frank Malilong The Other Side
Not very long ago, I read a report on a study made on successful companies in the United States. It said that women started most of these companies. The men, mostly husbands, hopped in only very much later when the business had grown.
This is a woman’s world. Not only do they outnumber men, they sway over them, defining their destiny. Look:
Viewed against the standard of excellence that he has set, Tiger Woods was clearly in a slump. A couple of months ago, he married his Swedish girlfriend and came out of their honeymoon truly refreshed and energized, almost winning the US golf’s season-ending Tour Championship.
But for his wife, Kobe Bryant could have landed in jail for molesting another woman. The moment the Laker superstar convinced Mrs. Bryant to sit beside him as he remorsefully admitted that he had “consensual sex” with the other girl, the battle was half won.
There are many other stories that validate the theory of a woman behind every man’s triumph. Bette Midler must have been referring to her gender when she sang “Wind Beneath My Wings.”
There are exceptions, of course. The popular belief is that Imelda was to Ferdinand Marcos as Delilah was to Samson. But as proven not long ago, the cross of a spouse that a president has to bear doesn’t have to be a woman. Remember Jose Pidal?
Anyway, I am glad that Vice Gov. Greg Sanchez has come to terms with the reality that the destiny of the province is, whether he likes it or not, largely in the hands of a woman.
All it took was a trip to scenic Lake Danao in Camotes. It could have been the food served on them or the fresh air. Whatever, the vice governor is now saying he and Gov. Gwen Garcia can walk towards the same direction even if they travel on separate paths.
He may not admit if but the woman is now firmly in control.
