Cebuano netters outplay opponets
CEBUANO Bernardine Siso advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 23rd Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) National Junior Tennis Tournament in Manila after booting out Filipino-Spanish Juan Lorenzo Ferrer, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, in their Boys 12-Under battle.
The 11-year-old Siso came back from an opening-set debacle to eliminate his 12-year-old rival and book a place in the semifinal round, where he will play Manila’s Kim Saraza.
Niño’s younger sister Sally Mae advanced into the second round in the 10-Under Unisex division after dominating Julian Narvaez, 6-0, 6-1, to set a quarterfinal duel against Kim Polero.
Another Siso sibling, Sallydine, also advanced to the next round in the Girls 12-Under following her 6-2, 6-2 victory over Paranaque bet Patricia Orteza.
Sallydine will face RP Girls 12-Under No.1 Zhane Quitara in the quarterfinals.
Kristel Mae Buenacosa completed the Cebuanos’ successful start in the tilt after eking out her own lopsided victory in the form of a 6-1, 6-1 beating of Jasmin Tan Ho, also in the Girls 12-Under cluster. (JSV)
