Shell goes for No.2 spot today v. Hotdogs

THE Shell Turbo Chargers eye to take the solo second spot today when they meet Purefoods in the Grand Matador-PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

San Miguel, for its part, will try to ride on the momentum of its loud victory over the Hotdogs at the Leyte National High School Gym in Tacloban City last Thursday, when the Beermen meet the Alaska Aces in the opener.

The Turbo Chargers, in one of their best starts so far, are expected to go all out for a win today not just for the No.2 spot but also to redeem themselves from a 90-94 loss to Red Bull last Wednesday.

The task, however, will not be an easy one as they will be facing a Hotdogs squad, which aches for vengeance for their loss in Tacloban City.

Bench contribution

Shell, currently tied with Ginebra at 5-3, are again expected to put their hopes on hotshots Tony dela Cruz, Ronald Tubid, Chris Calaguio, Richie Alvarez and Billy Mamaril when they challenge the shorthanded Hotdogs.

Austria is also expected to get significant numbers off the bench from Kalani Ferreria, Marlon Legaspi, Rensy Bajar and Chris Jackson.

Meantime, the Hotdogs, carrying an even 4-4 record, will be bannered by rookie sensations James Yap, Peter June Simon and Paul Artadi, with the help of veterans Jun Limpot Zaldy Realubit, Kerby Raymundo and Rey Evangelista.

San Miguel Beer coach Jong Uichico, for his part, is still expected to put his money on his awesome-foursome of Danny Ildefonso, Nic Belasco, Danny Seigle and Olsen Racela, who keyed the Beermen’s Tacloban victory. (JSV)
