Hua Ching rules Prez Cup tabble tennis

After a successful stint in Bacolod last month, the Hua Ching Foundation squad bested 62 other teams from all over the country to capture the 2nd Presidential Cup National Table Tennis held in Manila recently.

The trio of Harold Baring, Julius Esposo and Rodel Valle survived a grueling elimination round against Manila, with Baring spearheading the team in a sterling win against the host team headed by current RP No.5 Mark De Leon.

Esposo took his turn in leading the team in the quarterfinals after dominating Joseph Dela Cruz in the teams 3-2 win.

No RP player

The Hua Ching crew, which recently clinched the Lopues National Table Tennis Championship title in Bacolod last month, blanked Philippine Christian University in the semis, 3-0, to set a finals date with the Philippine Navy team.

Even without a current RP team member on its side, Hua Ching breezed through the finals following a 3-0 win.

Baring dumped former RP No.1 Lauro Crisostomo, 3-1, while Esposo defeated the Navy’s current top non-ranked player, Johan Remenasas, 3-2, and Valle sacked Christopher Castillo, 3-2.

Now on a roll with two titles in tow, Hua Ching is expected to join in the Sultan Kudarat Table Tennis Open this month in Tanjay, Negros Oriental. (JSV)
