Siso makes semis By Mike T. Limpag Sun.Star Correspondent
Playing in her first international sortie, Sally Mae Siso is reaping similar results as she barged into the semifinal round after dispatching Choo Lyn Lee of South Korea, 6-0, 6-1, in the International Tennis Championships 10-Under category in Penang City, Malaysia yesterday.
On the other hand, Rosalinda Jaca lost out in the Girl’s 14-Under quarterfinals against a Thai opponent, 4-6, 4-6, after earlier dumping Victoria Ong Lianciang of Selmania, 6-1, 6-2.
Siso, who has dominated most of the local tournaments shed joined, is doing exceptionally well in Malaysia as she dropped only two games in three matches.
Lee cried
“This is her first time abroad,” Sally Mae’s proud father Dino told Sun.Star Cebu.
The match was so one-sided that the Lee cried after losing to the diminutive Siso, who is also backed by Osaka Iridology and Dunlop.
Siso is the only Filipino left in the tournament after Francis Largo similarly bowed out of the Boys 14-Under quarterfinals against an opponent from Singapore, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Siso will next face the winner of the quarterfinal match-up between Sutatta Buddha and Nukul Theviya.
After the Penang City tournament, Siso and Jaca will play in the second leg of the series on Dec. 12-16 in Perlis City before heading back home on Dec. 20.
